Sonia for Sarah...Journal entry and pics from November 8th
"Nov 8, 7:18am - Namche Bazaar
Good morning from Namche Bazaar!
Ok...after a good night's sleep things are looking up! I feel great this morning and am not really sore at all, thank God /Ana/Tyler for my training! My migraine is gone and we found all the snacks, including bacon!!
We were going to do night sky photos last night but it was cloudy...blessing in disguise, I guess. Last night required laughs...getting a hot shower in a bathroom with no heat was both a blessing and a curse. Maybe I should have stopped here along the hike...🤣🤣
I have so many pics from yesterday...we crossed 3 suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River:
The last one was the Hillary Step bridge and was the highest of them all. Here's a pic of the lower bridge that is out of order:
Also, always give animals the right of way on these!!
Here's a pic from the bridge:
And a pic of prayer flags hung along the bridge:
And a view of the mountains we could see once crossed it:
We celebrated a bit with one of our guides once we got across.
It was also the day we entered Sagarmatha National Park. Before we entered the park we had to have our bags searched again. There have been a couple other security checkpoints along the trek.
And I found the sign and got my very own pic of it. This was a super happy moment for me because I had come across it during my trip research and loved it.
Food wise we are getting plenty. Here's a typical breakfast & lunch.
And we found the bacon and the rest of the snacks! Here's a couple of our guide enjoying the bacon. The dogs liked it too :)
A few more pics of food along the way. Here's a little market we walked past:
And some awesome coconut cookies I bought at a little rest stop that gave receipts for paying to use the toilet. I found out later someone in my group bought the same cookies with the same manufacturing date and his were moldy...ew.
By the way, most of the toilets here look like this. This one is actually at the airport in Lukla. Flush toilets are a hard thing to come by and it's smart to always carry toilet paper with you around here.
That's about it, but here's a couple random pics from the day.
I'm totally in love with how blue this water is.
Yesterday was hard but fantastic. We came together as a team and helped teammates that needed it. Everything that led me here happened for a reason...this is where I am supposed to be right now and I couldn't be happier about it.
