Spoiler alert: We made it to Kathmandu!!
11:23 Doha Time - Hamad International Airport
As we sit here in Doha we're connecting as a group, eating food, and taking advantage of hot showers thanks to the airport lounge.
So great getting to know these people I've only connected with via Zoom calls until now...well, most of them anyway.
It's about to board for our last leg of the trip which is our 4h15m flight from Doha to Kathmandu.
Not sure if I'll have wifi on the plane or when I'll have it off the plane so updates will likely become more scarce. If I'm not able to update, my sister, Sonia will step in to post the hourly itinerary for the day.
I'll be around and post it up as I'm able. I'm so excited to share this journey but in order to do that fully, I need to experience it fully and that will take balance. If nothing else, I'll post my paper journal entries and insert the photos when I go back and post it all here.
Hang tight for more...saving this as a draft and if it's empty after this I ran out of wifi and Sonia will publish it.
Thank you all for the love and support on this once in a lifetime journey I am on. I can feel it. Love to you all.
Doha to Kathmandu - no wifi!
Uneventful flight...other than this one incident. This is Courtney and we decided to make the most of this situation!
We did get our first views of the Himalayas, including Everest.
8:33 am, Nepal time - Made it to Kathmandu!!!!
Flight down, through customs, got my visa and am officially in Nepal!
Off the plane and into the airport we went...
Then another check of our covid tests and then visas and passports stamped!
And I'm officially in Nepal!
Next up was luggage...mine took a while to come through and we have one teammate whose bag didn't arrive. Hopefully it will show up but if not we'll take care of him. We did have a little fun getting luggage out the door!
Customs was pretty much non-existent and you'll be happy to know the bacon and snacks all made it here!
After 33 hours of travel and another couple in the airport we finally made it outside, and we met our guides!
Just missing three people that arrived early but here's the amazing group that will make it 80+ miles and 17 days together.
Right now, we're at out bed and breakfast and relaxing with a cup of coffee while we go through orientation and relax a little but....ahhhhhh...
Tomorrow we're leaving at 4:45am to catch our flight to Lukla and hit the trail!
Stay tuned...
