Kala Patthar Sunset with Time Lapse Video!

 Sonia for Sarah:

Nov. 13, 2021 7:38pm Gorak Shep, Nepal

Kala Patthar completely wrecked me. Would do again. Worth it, but I wasn't sure I'd make it. Summitted at 4:03pm, 18,605 ft. Watched the sun set on Mt. Everest, one of the coolest things I'll ever see. My head is pounding, and my spirit needs a major recharge. Definitely a mental and physical game today. Going to go read Sonia's letter and go to bed. Read it 10x 💕  Stuck foot warmers on my base layers. Sleeping in my hat, neck warmer, gloves, and no fewer than two layers on top and bottom. I needed that letter. Love you sis.

Now for some pics:

This was the spot I was waiting for. No ifs, ands, or buts, about making it up. Pics from this spot are amazing. Here's a sunset progression. Peaks from left to right are Lola, Everest, Nuptse.

Proof Everest is the tallest as the sun touches it last.

Panaroma...love this landscape.

My favorite of them all. I love that this moment wasn't waited for, or planned, it just WAS. There to see with what my last look back at Everest. It captures all the emotion, magnificence, attitude, trials and grit of this whole journey and puts it all in one moment that just unfolded in its own way at that time.

I have one more goodie for you...sunset on Kala Patthar time lapse. Enjoy!

Next day was Base Camp...stay tuned for that next!

About once a year I like to take a solo trip. Time to myself to reset, recenter, and make sure I'm keeping these two feet that don't...
