Dingboche to Lobuche

 Sonia for Sarah...

"Friday Nov 12, 2021 6:04pm Lobuche, Nepal

Today felt like a really long day. The hike was 5.88 miles. Total time, including lunch was 8h18m. I can easily say the altitude was really not an issue. Total ascent was 2,221 ft with only 293 ft of descent. I sit here now, warming up by the fire fueled with dried yak poop.

Totally a true story and here's pics to prove it. Here's a woman flattening balls of yak poop on the wall to dry in the sun.

My head hurts. It's cold out, no shower for the next 3 nights. This is the hard part. One foot in front of the other. My last O2 saturation reading after getting here was 88% and my heart rate was under 100 bpm. All I've got in my today is a dump of pics, but here's my favorite:

Tomorrow I'll be up over 18,000 ft to watch the sun set on Everest. I can't wait to get there despite it likely being the hardest climb I'll ever do.

About once a year I like to take a solo trip. Time to myself to reset, recenter, and make sure I'm keeping these two feet that don't...
