Sonia for Sarah....

Fell asleep before 8 pm last night and woke up this morning cold. Power flickered/went out a couple times. Got everything repacked and am almost ready to go. Breakfast with the team and some warm tea is always a highlight of the day.
Yesterday was awesome. Great hike from Namche to Tengboche. Some great views. In this pic you can see the suspension bridge we crossed yesterday.
Then Everest came back into view. So glad I saw it yesterday or I may not have been certain. So surreal being here just hiking through the Himalayas!
Our first break was near a stupa:
Again, Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam in view. I had my back to it for a couple minutes until I swear it tapped me on the shoulder so I'd turn around. So I sat and ate my snack with this view. Pics of me with Everest just blow my mind.
Next up was lunch. They served us popcorn as an appetizer, one of my faves and it was delicious.
I took my shoes off here which felt great. I did have a spot on my heel and had to break out the duct tape for blister prevention. No worries...all good as I know how to catch it early and thicker socks will help.
After lunch we hit another suspension bridge. That's....I lost count how many we've crossed but they're so cool.
Then, after lunch we did over 2,000 ft of elevation. It was a slow and steady pace but then we made it to Tengboche!
Today, my trek to Dingboche, which puts us over 14,000 ft, looks like the elevation gain is more gradual than yesterday. After Sneffels, I'm feeling pretty good about today, & ready for it.
Our guide asked for 3 things:
- sip water throughout hike
- go at your own pace
- have a wow attitude
These 3 things along with just putting one foot in front of the other makes it all seem pretty easy. I got this!"
